Science & Agriculture

Year 7 Science & Year 8 Science

Year 7 and 8 students have been hard at work applying their fundamental skills as part of their assessment tasks. Year 7 have practiced producing and analysing their own experiments in addition to taking measurements accurately. Meanwhile, Year 8 are hard at work collaborating with their peers in their own experiment design as part of their Group Depth Study assessment task.

Year 9 Science and Agriculture

Year 9 Agriculture students have made steady progress in their mushroom-focused depth study, attempting to produce spore prints which facilitate the growth of new fungi. The best result was achieved by Rhys Sly who made crucial modifications to his method to improve his trial’s outcome.

Year 10 Science and Agriculture

In Science, year 10 students have been exploring motion and forces present in everyday life. Various investigations have been conducted such as the analysis of an object in motion’s speed, velocity and acceleration. Additionally, modern advances in technology were researched about how they protect passengers in vehicles from life-threatening forces such as crumple zones, airbags and seatbelts.

Senior Science and Agriculture

Year 12 Chemistry students made esters out of butyric acid and ethanol, the purpose of the experiment being the conversion of a vomit-scented chemical into another that could used as an artificial fruit flavouring.
