Our policies and reports
Our policies and reports help families understand how our school works. Our annual report and school plan show what we’ve done and how we’re improving each year. Our policies address attendance, absences, behaviour, uniform and how we respond to your concerns.
School Behaviour Support and Management Plan
At Mount View High School, we are committed to providing an engaging, safe and respectful learning environment for everyone. We teach and model the behaviours we value in our students. We take strong action in response to behaviour that is detrimental to self or others or to the achievement of high-quality teaching and learning. Our Behaviour Support and Management Plan has strong and explicit links to the Department of Education Behaviour code for students, and the School Community Charter.
Non-Compulsory Excursion Policy
Mount View High School has a strong tradition of academic, creative, and performing arts and sporting success. The school has a broad, balanced, and relevant curriculum that is supported through extracurricular opportunities for our students. Externally based extra-curricular activities that are not directly related to curriculum-based assessment or course outcomes are known as Non-Compulsory Excursions.
A non-compulsory school excursion refers to an optional trip or outing organised by Mount View High School, where participation is not mandatory for students. These excursions are typically educational or recreational in nature, aiming to provide students with experiences outside the regular academic curriculum. Students have the choice to opt in to these excursions.
The staff, community and students at Mount View High School expect students who represent the school to meet published behavioural expectations, attendance expectations and to consistently wear correct school uniform. The linked policy clearly articulates the minimum standard and requirements that students need to meet in relation to behavioural, attendance and the wearing of school uniform.
Mobile Phone Policy
Mount View High School has implemented the New South Wales Department of Education’s (NSW DoE) Mobile Phone Ban, commonly referred to as the “gate to gate mobile phone ban”.
While mobile phones and other such digital devices have substantial benefits, their use in schools can detract from learning, have shown to decrease in long term learning achievement and contribute to negative social interactions and student wellbeing. The Mount View High School Mobile Phone Policy and Procedures purpose is for the management of mobile phones and related electronic devices within the school. In addition to mobile phones, digital devices that have the capability to make and or receive calls, messaging capabilities or control wireless headphones are included in procedures.
Laptops and tablets are managed through MVHS and NSW DoE Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policy and procedures.
Anti-Bullying Procedures
This procedure outlines the responsibilities for staff, students and parent/carers in regard to reporting
and managing incidents related to bullying at Mount View High School.
Annual school report
Each year, we share our progress in the annual school report. It gives families a clear picture of how our school is performing and how we’re supporting every student’s success. The report reflects our commitment to openness, accountability and continuous improvement.
The report includes:
- what we’re doing well and where we’re improving
- student achievement and academic progress
- our school vision and goals
- key highlights and milestones
- challenges we’ve faced and how we’re addressing them.
School excellence plan
Our school excellence plan (SEP) is a working document that shows our priorities in learning, teaching and leading. It explains our focus areas for improvement and how we plan to get there. We write our SEP with help from our school community so it reflects our shared priorities.
