Year 9 Students Shine in Leadership and Community Engagement

This term, our Year 9 students have excelled in a range of activities, proudly demonstrating their leadership skills and strong commitment to the school community.

A standout achievement was the participation of our nominated students in Mount View High School’s Peer Support program. As peer support leaders, they played an integral role in welcoming our incoming Year 7 students during Transition Day. By providing valuable guidance and leadership, they fostered a positive environment and helped establish meaningful peer relationships. Their efforts were truly commendable.

We are also incredibly proud of the many Year 9 boys who actively supported White Ribbon Day, showing their solidarity and commitment to raising awareness about this important cause. Their participation highlights their growing sense of social responsibility.

Additionally, a significant number of Year 9 students qualified for the highly anticipated rewards excursion by meeting the non-compulsory excursion policy requirements. This reflects their dedication to maintaining excellent attendance, demonstrating respectful behaviour, and wearing the school uniform with pride.

A special mention goes to the students in our GEM class, who expressed their gratitude to their teacher, Mr Gray, by presenting him with a handmade and engraved plaque as a keepsake. This heartfelt gesture marked his departure as he pursues personal endeavours. Mr Gray will be deeply missed by his students and colleagues alike.

And lastly an update from Germany - as you may recall Payton Burke was lucky enough to be chosen as an exchange student through Rotary. Recently Payton has provided us with an update of his experience attending school and living with a host family in Germany. Payton writes, “Germany has been an amazing experience so far and I would encourage young people to partake in this program. I have done lots of new things ranging from trying new foods and enjoying the difference of school as well. On my journey so far, I have done many things. Some being, visiting the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart, going to see Europa Park for the day (which is one of the biggest rollercoaster parks in Europe), been on some hikes through the woods, had a look through some massive markets for Christmas and etc. Settling in wasn’t hard for me as I had felt accepted by my host family right away. Same goes for school, I have made many new friends that I talk to everyday and hang out with on the weekends. Overall this has been an amazing experience so far and I am enjoying every moment. I’m looking forward to my Ski trip in the coming weeks and all that experiences that I will do in the next two months.”

We commend all our Year 9 students for their hard work, leadership, and contributions this term. Your efforts continue to make us proud—keep up the fantastic work! Have a wonderful and safe summer break.
