Year 9 Adviser

ANNOUNCEMENT- STUDENT LEADERS

This term, we are proud to announce our newly appointed Year 9 leaders. Congratulations to Violet Mansfield, Fletcher Phillip, Izaya Manthorpe and Charlotte Mahony. These students have accepted the important responsibility of leadership, each bringing unique strengths to their roles. I am confident that together they will rise to the challenge, supporting our year group and contributing to whole school initiatives.

WELLBEING PROGRAMS

Our Year 9 students had the privilege of taking part in the Youth Aware of Mental Health Program (YAM). YAM is a school-based mental health promotion and suicide prevention program designed for students aged 13-17. Through role-play and student-led conversations, participants engaged in discussions on topics that impact their mental health and learned how to respond and seek help for themselves and their friends. The program consists of five interactive sessions over a three-week period and has been proven to improve students’ mental health over time. Students at Mount View High School gave positive feedback, describing the program as fun, entertaining, interactive, and worthwhile. Each student received a booklet to take home, and I encourage all students, parents, and carers to read it and discuss the topics covered to maintain an open line of communication regarding mental health issues.

STUDENT OPPORTUNITIES

Our Year 9 students have had a wonderful semester, demonstrating themselves to be outstanding role models. I look forward to selecting some of these students soon to become peer support leaders for our incoming Year 7 students in 2025. This role will offer opportunities for leadership and personal growth, including the chance to attend camp. More information will be shared in the near future.

STUDENT ACHIEVEMENTS

Lastly, it has been a pleasure to present so many Principal’s Awards at the conclusion of Semester One, to very deserving students. Students from Year 9 can be seen actively participating in many whole school events including Star Struck, School Sporting Events, F1 in Schools and victorious in Debating. Keep up the excellent work, Year 9. There are many ‘opportunities for all to thrive’.

I wish everyone a warm and happy holiday and a safe return in Term 3.
