Human Society and It's Environment

As we approach the conclusion of another semester, the HSIE Faculty celebrates the culmination of our exploration of History across Years 7-10. In Year 7, students delved into the ancient civilisations of Egypt and China, uncovering the mysteries and cultural legacies of these pivotal societies. Year 8 embarked on a journey through the medieval world, exploring topics ranging from siege warfare and castles to the unique Aztec civilisation and the profound impacts of the Spanish conquest of the Americas. Meanwhile, Year 9 engaged deeply with the world wars, examining their causes, consequences and global ramifications. Finally, Year 10 focused on the Holocaust and the evolving concepts of rights and freedoms in the modern world, fostering critical reflections on human rights issues past and present.

Throughout these studies, our students have honed crucial skills in critical analysis of sources, constructing complex sentences, employing cause-and-effect language to analyse historical events, using evaluative language to assess significance and writing with cohesion to ensure clarity and coherence in their narratives. As we transition into Semester Two and delve into the exciting realm of Geography, we encourage our students to continue practicing and refining these skills independently. By doing so, they will deepen their understanding of geographical concepts and enhance their ability to communicate complex ideas effectively.

We look forward to embarking on this next educational journey with our dedicated students, exploring the dynamic relationships between people and their environments across the globe
