YEAR 8 AND 9 MUSIC CLASSES SHINE IN MUSIC PERFORMANCES

The music faculty has been abuzz with performance activities in Year 8 and 9 music classes, showcasing the students' hard work and dedication. There has been impressive progress amoung our students this term who have been working meticulously on their performance skills, practicing on keyboards, guitars, and drums and completing their first performance task for the year.

Students have tackled a variety of musical pieces, ranging from classical to contemporary genres. Their dedication to mastering these diverse repertoires has been commendable. In recent in-class performances, the students demonstrated their skills both individually and in groups. Their ability to perform arrangements and rhythms was impressive, showing their hard work.

Year 8 music students have also delved into various genres, with a particular focus on pop rock music. They enhanced their knowledge and listening skills by identifying different tone colours and structures in contemporary pop songs. Meanwhile, Year 9 students explored a variety of Australian music genres, musicians, and bands, enhancing their analytical listening skills in the process.

YEAR 10 MUSIC BLUES COMPOSERS

Year 10 Music students embarked on their first composition task of the year, using industry-standard software MuseScore to create a 12-bar blues piece. This project allowed them to explore various composition techniques, develop melodies and harmonic progressions, and incorporate elements of Jazz and Blues.

This term, Year 11 Music students have been deeply engaged in performance practice, significantly enhancing their individual skills and ensemble awareness. In addition to this work, students have been delving into the core concepts of music. This in-depth exploration has enriched their musical understanding and honed their aural analysis skills, providing a comprehensive foundation for their continued musical development.

YEAR 12 MUSIC

Year 12 Music has been working to enrich their skills and deepen their understanding of the core concepts of music. Through exploring a variety of excerpts, they have explored musical theories and practices, furthering their analytical and listening skills. The Year 12 Music students have also been fine-tuning their elective pieces in preparation for the HSC. 

MPC ART MURAL – YEAR 10 VISUAL ARTS

The Year 10 Visual Arts class collaborated with a professional mural artist to create a vibrant masterpiece. Together, they explored various techniques and concepts, blending their creativity with the artist's expertise. The mural now stands as a colourful testament to their collaborative efforts and artistic growth.
