Leo Clubs are a sponsored affiliation of Lions Club International, that encourage young men and women to serve others in their community and around the world.
Mount View Leo Club is affiliated with Cessnock Lions Club and we have Ian Anderson (former principal of MVHS), Peter Conroy (former Deputy Principal of MVHS) and Grahame Chamberlain (former HT of MVHS) as our Club supervisors.
Miss Bell is the teacher supervisor.
LEO stands for:
Leadership - as members acquire skills as project organisers and motivators of their peers
Experience - as they discover how team work and cooperation can bring about change in their community and the world
Opportunity - as they develop positive character traits and receive recognition for their contributions
The LEO club voted in a new executive for 2023/2024. We will be holding a change-over dinner on Wednesday 30th August in the LEAP center at Mount View High School.
The incoming executive is:
President: Ella Hunt
Vice-President: Josephine Lee
Secretary: Matilda Lemckert
Treasurer: Benjamin Ling
Congratulations to the incoming executive and a big thank you to the efforts of our outgoing executive, Annabella Crowther, Connor Greenhill, Nicholas Wells and Cadence Enright.
As part of the changeover dinner, we will be raffling a washing basket full of snacks and sweets to raise money for Kids with Heart Disorders in memory of one of our first LEO members who passed away last year. Raffle tickets will be available until 30th August for $1 each.
In the last six months, the LEO club have donated $500 to Act for Kids and $500 to the Butterfly foundation. We will have another Bunnings BBQ in September to continue raising money for local charities. In October, the LEO club will be walking from the basin to Bellbird Bowling Club to raise money for Parkinson’s research in memory of our past Principal Phil Papworth.
