I would like to congratulate all of the students who put themselves forward to be considered for a leadership position within the school. The students have engaged in the selection process with a level of maturity and confidence that was impressive. As a year adviser, it has been a pleasure to watch them grow into articulate young adults. Many of the candidates communicated effective ideas on how they could represent the school, contribute to the community and improve upon current systems. Unlike most elections we see in today's political climate, the student’s engaged in the process in the most respectful manner and used their time on center stage to voice issues that matter to young people. Bullying, mental health, reviewing school uniforms and assessment were issues that were all on the agenda. However, the most endearing moment was to see the unity of the candidature on supporting the schools future involvement in purple day. This charity event aims to increase awareness about epilepsy, which is a condition that is held very dearly amongst the year 11 student body. I would like to congratulate all of the applicants - the students have done themselves, parents and the school community proud.

We would like to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the lands. We acknowledge the 3 language groups in our AECG area. The Awabakal people, the Wonnarua people and the Darkinjung people. We show respect to our Elders past and present, along with the leaders of the future who are learning and carrying forward our traditions and culture both here at school and in the wider community. We extend that respect to the Aboriginal people present today, as well as the non-Aboriginal people here, as we continue working together on carrying our culture forward.
