Deputy Principal Years 7 & 12

Year 7

2024 has started very well for Year 7. Students have settled in and are adjusting to high school routines and structures. The highlight for Year 7 was the Great Aussie Bush Camp at Kincumber where the students were involved in a variety of outdoor learning experiences delivered in an authentic bush setting. The activities were fun, challenging and diverse, encouraging teamwork and pushing students out of their comfort zone. Students participated with enthusiasm and connected with different friendship groups.

At the beginning of the term, Year 7 participated in Operation Pivot delivered by NSW Police. The Police Youth Engagement Officer spoke to the Year group about having high expectations and aiming to achieve them through dedication and effort.

When it comes to class work and assessments, it is good practice to refer to the Year 7 Assessment Schedule on our website to ensure students are aware of when tasks are due. Being organised is a great skill for students to develop as they make their way through high school.

Likewise, it is important to have open communication with teachers if there are any concerns regarding academic progress or wellbeing issues. Working together supports students to achieve their best, so we encoursage students to speak to their class teachers or parents to reach out as soon as an issue arises.

Year 12

Year 12 have settled to their second term well with students focused on their assessment tasks and working towards deadlines. It is important for Year 12 to revisit the 2023/2024 Assessment Schedule and be aware of due dates.

To support Year 12 during study periods, it is recommended that they go to the library and seek out Ms Schafer, Senior Tutor for support.
