High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) at Mount View High School
At Mount View High School, every student’s potential is our priority. We believe that all students—regardless of background or circumstance—deserve access to learning opportunities that recognise and grow their unique abilities. Our commitment to high expectations means we actively support high potential and gifted students across four key domains: intellectual, creative, physical, and social-emotional. We challenge our students to think critically, create with purpose, lead confidently, and grow every day in a learning environment built on quality teaching, inclusivity, and equity in excellence.
We understand that potential exists along a continuum and that students require different types and levels of support to thrive. That’s why HPGE at Mount View is not limited to specialist programs—it is embedded in every classroom and supported across the whole school. Our teachers are skilled at identifying high potential and adjusting their teaching to extend students who learn quickly, think deeply, or show outstanding ability in a range of areas. Through targeted programs, enrichment opportunities, and a culture of encouragement, we help turn student potential into personal success.
Academic Enrichment
The Academic Enrichment class is for students who think and learn at a high level, who quickly understand new ideas, make connections between concepts, solve complex problems, and often need more challenge and depth in their learning.
Academic Mathematics Class - Years 7, 8, 9 & 10
This program supports students who show high potential in mathematical reasoning, problem solving, and abstract thinking. It develops intellectual ability by encouraging students to process and apply complex concepts, make connections between ideas, and transfer their learning across contexts.
