STEM Racing

HPGE Focus - Intellectual Domain (with sub-focus on Creative and Social-Emotional)

This program develops students’ intellectual potential through hands-on learning in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Students design, analyse, and race compressed-air-powered miniature Formula 1 cars using industry-standard software and engineering processes. The program also builds creative thinking, teamwork, and communication skills as students take on roles in design, manufacturing, marketing, and event coordination—just like a real Formula 1 team.

Entry to the STEM Racing Program

STEM Racing is open to students with a strong interest in STEM and Formula 1 racing. Entry is by self-selection, and students are supported to take on various roles within their team based on their strengths and interests.

Program Aim and Intent

The program values curiosity, persistence, and collaboration, and offers opportunities to build leadership, practical skills, and connections with local industries and TAFE. STEM Racing aims to turn student potential into performance by engaging them in a real-world, multi-disciplinary challenge. Through design, problem-solving, and teamwork, students develop a deep understanding of STEM concepts alongside essential project and communication skills. The program prepares students for future study and careers in engineering, design, and innovation, while also building confidence, creativity, and collaborative thinking.
