Entry to the Senior Café Program
Students participate in the Senior Café as part of the Stage 6 VET Hospitality course. Teachers identify high-potential learners through observation of students in live café operations, noting strengths in practical skills, leadership, communication, and collaboration. Students demonstrating talent are given increasing responsibility and may be selected for roles such as Head Barista, Service Coordinator, or Event Lead.
Program Aim and Intent
The Senior Café aims to transform student potential into high-level performance in a real industry setting. Through targeted coaching, leadership development, and opportunities to mentor peers, students build resilience, confidence, and workplace readiness. The program offers a clear pathway from school to industry, with students gaining nationally recognised competencies and experience valued in hospitality, business, and service careers.

Students build real-world skills in hospitality while developing confidence, initiative, and leadership through collaborative teamwork. Creativity is encouraged through menu planning and service delivery, while responsibilities in areas such as ordering, stock management, and customer interaction promote independence and workplace readiness. This inclusive program also helps students feel a strong sense of connection and pride by sharing their work with the wider school community.
