Wellbeing at Mount View High School
Student wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do. We believe that young people learn best when they feel safe, supported, and connected to their school community. Our wellbeing programs are designed to nurture resilience, belonging, and positive mental health, equipping students with the skills to thrive both in and beyond the classroom.
The Resilience Project (Years 7–10)
A cornerstone of our wellbeing approach is The Resilience Project, which is delivered to students in Years 7–10. This evidence-based program promotes mental health and wellbeing through practical strategies centred on gratitude, empathy, mindfulness and emotional literacy. Students engage with lessons and activities that build self-awareness, support respectful relationships, and encourage them to reflect on their own strengths and values.
The program directly aligns with the ACARA Social and Emotional Capabilities Framework, ensuring that our students build critical life skills across self-management, social awareness, relationship-building, and responsible decision-making. By embedding these skills across multiple year groups, we are able to provide age-appropriate and targeted support that meets the varying needs of our students.
Targeted Wellbeing Programs
In addition to The Resilience Project, Mount View High School offers a wide range of initiatives that foster connection, resilience, and personal growth:
- Cookers Club – building teamwork and confidence through shared cooking experiences.
- Green Growers – developing responsibility and wellbeing through gardening and sustainability projects.
- Maintenance Group – providing hands-on opportunities to contribute to the school environment.
- Beauty Within – supporting self-esteem, self-expression, and positive identity.
- Top Blokes – empowering young men with the skills to make healthy choices and build respectful relationships.
- Youth Aware Mental Health Program (YAM) – equipping students with knowledge and strategies to support their own and others’ mental health.
These programs amongst others, sit alongside The Resilience Project, to form a layered and targeted wellbeing approach, ensuring that every student can find support and connection that suits their needs and interests.
