Additional learning support

At Mount View High School, we ensure that all students are ready and in an environment that supports learning. We support students with disabilities and additional learning needs so they can take part in all areas of school life. Adjustments will be made for students with formally diagnosed disabilities and imputed disabilities or learning needs, so that support can begin at any stage of school and reflective of current learning needs.

English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D).

At Mount View High School, we are committed to supporting students who are learning English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D). Our teachers work intensively with students one-on-one and in small groups, tailoring support to meet individual learning needs. Classroom lessons and assessments are differentiated to ensure students can access the curriculum and demonstrate their learning. Recently arrived students may also access the New Arrivals Program (NAP), providing focused English language support as they settle into school life. We use the EAL/D Learning Progression, aligned with NSW and Australian education policies, to guide our teaching strategies and help students build confidence and success in both language and learning.
