Mount View High School is a place of high expectations and strong values. Our success in academics, the arts, and sport is the result of strategic planning, dedicated staff, and a culture that encourages every student to thrive.
We offer a broad and balanced curriculum, supported by programs like Academic Enrichment, Leo’s leadership development, and our award-winning wellbeing initiatives — all designed to build strong, confident learners.
Our specialist facilities are the result of long-term planning and investment. These include a Learning Exhibition and Performance Centre, a modern STEM centre, a fully operational agricultural farm, indoor and outdoor gymnasiums, a school-based GP clinic, and a Wellbeing Hub — all created to support student learning and wellbeing.
We are deeply committed to recognising and celebrating Aboriginal culture. The Amarookoba Centre provides a culturally safe space for Aboriginal students, offering tutoring, mentoring, and wellbeing support.
Senior students benefit from a targeted approach to learning and future planning, with access to a dedicated senior space and café, a Senior Study Tutor, our Futures Centre, and the opportunity to connect with local high schools and TAFE campuses.
Our student body of around 940 includes 20% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. We are proud members of the Cessnock Community of Great Public Schools and work closely with the Korreil Wonnai Aboriginal Education Consultative Group. Our presence in the Cessnock Business Chamber supports community partnerships and meaningful employment and training pathways for students.
Our focus is clear: we aim to improve student learning through consistent, high-quality, research-informed teaching and the effective use of student assessment data. Equally, we prioritise student and staff wellbeing, using evidence-based strategies to create a safe, supportive, and productive learning environment.
