Hello everybody and welcome all parents and care givers of Year 12. What a busy Term 2 it has been - no thanks to the elephant in the room Covid.

I would really like to say a massive thank you to all the staff at Mount View who have gone above and beyond with kindness and gratitude, as well as empathy and understanding with Year 12 this year thus far. The finish line is near so let’s keep pushing. I too have a student in Year 12 so I know what parents are going through right now.

Year 12 were lucky enough to have a BBQ Fundraiser organised by the leadership team. It was to raise money towards our Year 12 formal. It was an awesome day and Year 12 turned up in numbers to help out. We would like to say thank you to the leadership team for organising this day and thank you to everybody at Mount View High School who supported this BBQ. Over $1000 was raised.

Year 12 students

Seniors in the Library have the opportunity to stay back Tuesdays, Thursdays and during free periods with Study Tutor Jess Schafer. Every student in Year 12 at some time throughout their senior years would have had the opportunity to work with Miss Schafer either on class work, assessments, school work etc. and we would like to thank her for all her help with Year 12.

Textiles project

Half of Year 12 are madly working on their major projects right now. Most are due around August. Above is a small square of Jacinta White’s textile project. She is making a blanket about her family tree and heritage. I cannot wait to see this finished. We hope to organise a night in which we hope to display all major works from all subjects this year in the library. Watch this space for more details.

During the July school holidays most teachers of Year 12 give up their holidays and come to school to help students with their major projects and all other subject areas. Teachers right now are putting a timetable together which will be shared with your child. 

Important Dates:

July School Holidays/ Study Classes and Major Project sessions/ see your teachers for days and times

28th July - school photos

30th  August and onwards - major projects due

31st August - Trial Exams Start

22nd September - Slave Day

24th September - Graduation Assembly

Oct and Nov HSC Exams

12th November - Formal at the Vintage. Invitations will be sent out at the end of this term.

All of our Year 12 parents and caregivers over the coming months please take care. I am only a phone call away or you can email me about anything.

Just remember Year 12, you can only do your best and if that doesn’t get you there, then there is always a back door to what you want to do in life. Sometimes it takes a bit longer but hey, you are going to live to 100 so there is plenty of time. Your HSC is only a small part of your amazing life
